TALLADEGA TEST NOTES:

There are 25 driver/team combinations scheduled to participate in the two day ARCA Racing Series Test Session at Talladega, Alabama.

The test session marks the debut of Hylton Motorsports new Ford Fusion Superspeedway car.  The car (pictured at left with Hylton Motorsport's Terry Strange) was built by Roush Racing and was last campaigned by driver Carl Edwards during the 2007 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.  The car will make its ARCA Racing Series debut during April at Talladega.  The car is powered by a Roush/Yates Racing engine

Driver James Harvey Hylton is one of motorsport's most experienced drivers at the 2.66 mile high-banked speedway.  Hylton has 30 starts (25 NASCAR Cup and 5 ARCA) with 1 Win, 4 Top-Fives and 10 Top-Ten finishes at Talladega.  In April 2009, Hylton ran with the leaders all day until a late race encounter resulted in a 15th place finish.

"The car is a good car and we should get it sorted out tomorrow," stated Hylton Wednesday night "we will be ready to give them a good run in April."

Hylton's lap of 183.164 mph breaks his personal restrictor plate top speed best of 181.680 mph (April 23, 2009 - Talladega, Alabama)

The all-time Hylton Motorsport speed record of 201.113 mph was set on May 25, 1987 at Talladega by driver Ronnie Thomas.  Thomas, of Christiansburg VA, piloted a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS with an unrestricted 358 cubic inch motor.

Hylton's crew chief for the test is long-time friend Bernard Alvarez.  During his tenure as a driver, Alvarez accumulated 9 NASCAR Sprint Cup starts.  Alvarez also has 25 starts as a car owner in NASCAR's top series.  Alvarez's best finish as an owner was in the 1966 Islip 300, when driver Ned Jarrett piloted his Ford to a third place finish behind winner Bobby Allison and second place finisher James Hylton.

"We ran by ourselves on the track today," stated Hylton Wednesday after practice "we stayed out of the draft to try to figure out what we had for qualifying in April.  Overall, we had a good test."
