MEMPHIS TN (February 28) - Last weekend's Tire Kingdom 150 featured two drivers that hailed from opposite ends of the generational spectrum.  The number 48 Hylton Motorsports/Radon.com - Industrial Depot Ford was piloted by 17 year old fourth-generation driver Andrew Belmont while the number 18 Rockingham Speedway Ford was piloted by 75 year old NASCAR legend James Hylton.  Belmont is the son of 1992 NASCAR SPRINT Cup Rookie of the Year runner-up Andy Belmont, and  Hylton was the 1966 Rookie of the year and has 715 starts to his credit.  Belmont's grandfather, Andrew Belmont, Sr, was the crew chief on Dave Terrell's 1957 Chevrolet which competed in the NASCAR Convertible Division during the late fifties.  His great-uncle Charlie Belmont campaigned a Ford flathead 60 during the forties.

The ARCA Racing Series Tire Kingdom 150 was the 37th career road course event for Hylton. "Palm Beach is a beautiful race track," stated Hylton "I appreciate the opportunity given by Andy Hillenberg's Rockingham Speedway to run the place."  Hylton has been successful on road course events with a victory in the 1970 NASCAR Grand American Series Citrus 250 and a second in class in the 1976 24 Hours of Daytona.  Hylton also has six Top-Five finishes in NASCAR Sprint Cup competition on road course circuits.

Unfortunately the duo was plagued with mechanical issues that resulted in a 26th place finish for Belmont and a 29th place finish for Hylton.  While neither driver finished the rain-shortened event, they were complementary of both the ARCA Racing Series and Palm Beach International Raceway.  "ARCA did a great job making preparations to get the facilities up to par for the event" stated Belmont.  The race was captured by Justin Marks of Rocklin CA in the Construct Corps Dodge Charger.

In 2009, Belmont competed in ARCA Racing Series events at Berlin and Springfield.  Competing on the road course at Palm Beach was a positive addition to the rookie driver's resume.  "I just want to thank James and the crew for the hard work they put in to get the car prepared, they did a great job." commented Belmont "The weekend didn't turn out like we wanted it to but that's racing."

Rockingham Speedway will host the ARCA Racing Series Carolina 200 on October 9th.
