MEMPHIS TN (April 14) - After a 29 year absence, James Harvey Hylton returns to racing action in the Lone Star State in Friday's Rattlesnake 150.  The ARCA Racing Series event is being contested at Texas Motor Speedway and is Hylton's first competition at the 1.5 mile track located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. 

During his career, Hylton as recorded nine NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts in the state of Texas.  Hylton has recorded eight starts at the two mile Texas World Speedway in College Station.  Hylton’s best finish at the track came on December 7, 1969, when he raced to a fourth place finish in the Texas 500.  Hylton piloted a 1969 Dodge Daytona during the 250 lap event which was captured by Bobby Isaac, also driving a Dodge Daytona.  Overall, Hylton had one Top-Five and four Top-Ten finishes at the track. Hylton finished 29th in the last NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event contested at the track, the 1981 Budweiser 500.

Hylton finished second in the 1971 Space City 300 at the half-mile Meyer Speedway in Houston on June 23, 1971.  Hylton drove a 1970 Ford Torino and finished two laps down to winner Bobby Allison.  This race would be the last NASCAR Sprint Cup race contested with less than 20 cars in the field.  Only 14 cars took the green flag for the event, including four Metro Houston residents: Walter Ballard, Ronnie Chumley, Fred Hill and Pete Arnold.
